My story begins on a small farm in a little town outside of Wichita, KS. I grew up in and around Wichita until leaving for Baptist Bible College in Springfield, MO in the fall of 1982. It was there in Missouri that I finished my undergraduate studies, and I also met the love of my life, Michelle (Shelley), a midwest farm girl from Palmer, IL. In June of 1986, six months after we were married we set out together on this journey of ministry. The Lord has allowed us to discover many new and interesting places and meet many wonderful people in California, Texas and New York. Along the way, we have also been blessed with three wonderful children – Steffan, Stephen, and Micaela. After 11 years of pastoring in Long Island, New York, the Lord orchestrated the events of our lives to bring us here to Calvary. I often marvel at the amazing plan of God that has led us to the place that we are today, and I am looking forward to His continuing leadership.

I grew up in Texas most of my life. I had the privilege of being raised by parents that followed Christ and tried to guide me in the right direction, but like most when I reached my teen years I felt I knew best and began to step back, not letting God have a roll in my life. Through a series of events in my life, I know was God guiding my life, I ended up here in Taylorville where God brought me a beautiful family. Through my church family here at Calvary, I came back to God in a way only he could have planned. I felt called in to ministry around fall of 2016 and began taking steps in that directing. On 2017, I was blessed with the opportunity to come on staff here at Calvary.

I grew up at Calvary and met God here and experienced His saving grace at the age of nine. I met my husband Kevin in youth group and we were married at Calvary. After spending 6 years away from the area, when Kevin was in the US Army, we returned and started serving in the kid’s ministry. God has lead me one step at a time from a volunteer capacity in many different ministries to being on staff. I am grateful that God has chosen to use me and grow me through the years. I know that He isn’t finished with me yet and look forward to whatever is next in His plan for my life.

Since I was about 11 I have called Taylorville area my home. I hadn’t attended church really until I turned 17 and was a junior in high school. With some pressing issues going on with my family, the Lord had led us to Calvary Baptist Church. I finally came to the realization from hearing Pastor Steve that I needed a Savior and can’t handle this life on my own. Around my 18th birthday I place my faith in Jesus and became a sinner saved by grace. Then later in 2015 I was baptized here. After serving on the worship team I felt a calling to ministry but wasn’t sure about it. This is where the Lord reassured me that he wanted to use someone even like myself. So in my next step of faith I surrendered to this call of full time ministry and in the fall of 2017 I transferred to Cedarville University in southwest Ohio. Here I got many opportunities to serve using my gifts and talents that the Lord has provided me with. In the summer of 2019 I began talking with Pastor Steve about the possibility of joining the staff here and over the next few months I felt this is where the Lord wanted me to be. So, shortly after graduating from Cedarville with a Bachelor of Arts in Worship Ministry, I joined the team here at Calvary Baptist Church and am excited to see what the Lord has in store in the future.
