Calvary Baptist Church of Taylorville, is an independent Baptist Church located in central Illinois approximately 30 minutes from the state capital of Springfield and in the middle of farm country. The church was established in 1946 and has a rich history in the small community. The pastor leads the church in partnership with the Board of Deacons and the full-time staff to ensure that all who are attending feels the love of God and hear the life changing message of the Gospel each time they walk through the doors.
Throughout the last 75 years, the mission of the church has been to “Make Disciples who make Disciples,” locally, nationally, and globally, to fulfill the Great Commission. We strive to accomplish this through life groups within the church, outreach events in the community, and through Faith Promise missions outside the church. Calvary started supporting missionaries in 1948 and currently supports 2 local, 12 national, and 42 foreign works.
Our Sunday morning worship service has a welcoming, casual, and friendly atmosphere. Average Sunday attendance (post Covid) is 125. We utilize live stream to reach people who are unable to meet with us in person. Our membership is made up of a wide range of ages which allows us to minister to families with young children through teens. Both the children’s ministry, who meet on Sunday morning, and the student ministry, who meet on Sunday Night, have the same discipleship goals of “Making disciples who make disciples.”
Must have a clear profession of faith and calling. Demonstrate an understanding of Tithing to the local church. Be passionate about missions, locally, nationally, and globally, and understanding the Faith Promise Missions model of giving. Prefer to have at least 5 years of Pastoral experience and hold a ministry related Bachelor’s Degree from Bible College or Seminary. Be able to balance church responsibilities and family.
The Senior Pastor should effectively and thoroughly communicate the Word of God each week through sound, Bible-based sermons. Lead the staff, church, deacon team and ministry leaders with a God given vision that reaches out into the Community. Balance both family and pastoral responsibilities when ministering to congregants or community members as they experience traumatic life events. Be able to approach conflict or reconciliation with a Biblical view in a timely, prayerful manner.
